I thought I’d share some of my fave polishes these days, all of which are sweet enough to complement a Valentine’s Day date outfit, don’t you think? It’s not available yet, but I saw this pretty lilac polish by Butter London on BellaSugar, called No More Waity, Katie in honor of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s upcoming big day. Two other colors I’ve been all about lately (and wearing for the last month), are Deborah Lippmann’s Prelude To Kiss, a mellow nude, and Whisper by Scotch Naturals, a non-toxic polish that’s pink perfection. What polishes have you been painting on recently?

I’m absolutely drooling over book clutches! They are so sweet and whimsical, and they combine two of my favorite things: books and fashion. I adore real books (you’ll have to drag me kicking and screaming into the world of e-books!), both reading them and having them on display. So these are just too much! Anthropologie is introducing a wedding line! BHLDN will be “unveiled” Feb. 14 — how romantic — and I’m so excited to see what’s to come! Right now the site has a beautiful slideshow with snippets of the collection (sparkles, silk, frills, oh my!), see them all below!!

While I love Michelle Williams, Marie Claire‘s cover gal for its February 2011 issue, I have to say I was more impressed with the photo essay featuring Clémence Poésy of Harry Potter and Gossip Girl fame. Not only is she strikingly beautiful, I love how the photos were styled, with sex kitten makeup and hair juxtaposed with sweet and prim sweaters, skirts, and dresses. See the spreads below!

It’s chilly here in SF! So to stay toasty, comfy, and chic I’ve been relying on soft basics with feminine details for my daily city commute. We got our first taste of rain here in San Fran, and unlike last year (when I ended up procrastinating and missing out on SD’s short rainy season), I made it a priority to find some rain boots before the weather gets wetter. Mission (hopefully) accomplished! I saw a gal on the bus when I first moved up here with the cutest wedge rain boots, and even though hers were black, I found the exact same pair (Tretorn Plask) in green on sale at shoes.com! With all the walking I do these days, flats have been my go-to shoes, and my heels barely see the light of day. It’s a bit depressing, but luckily there are a ton of cute, walkable options out there. After searching high and low the last few months for the perfect laptop bag, I finally gave in and bought myself a Longchamp. Scoff as you may for shamelessly joining the club, it’s not an easy task finding a bag that’s one, big enough to fit my 15-inch laptop in a sleeve; two, isn’t so big the laptop slides down into a horizontal position; three, sturdy enough to withstand the elements (the straps broke on my last bag, RIP); four, has a shoulder strap and a zipper to protect the contents; and five, not in the $300-400 range like most of the good quality leather totes I looked at. So there you go, if you’re on the hunt for a no-frills but good-looking bag for your laptop, the Longchamp “Le Pliage” tote is a great option.

I have issues with jewelry. I always see people that can pile on the pieces just right, but when I try to emulate the look, I always end up taking most of it off before heading out the door – usually sticking to a simple necklace and my faux diamond earrings. One thing I’m especially in need of is a nice watch, and now that I’m a slave to the clock – running between multiple means of public transit every day – I feel it’s time to purchase that staple piece of jewelry.

La Mer’s wrap watches, like the chain one pictured, really appeal to me. With their layered bracelet-like look, I wouldn’t have to decide which pieces to put on, just throw on the watch, and I’m good to go!

For those Jillian fans out there – who are still e-mailing me, btw :) – the green sleeveless dress that she wore to Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney’s wedding is Ina Soltani (thanks Jillian!). The same designer of this dress she wore to The Proposal premiere a while back. Anthropologie's February 2010 Catalog

Last week we went to Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA in Del Mar, and it was incredible! I laughed, I gasped, I put my hands in front of my face…what those people can do with their bodies is crazy!

The circus has been EVERYWHERE lately, and I love it. The February Anthropologie and Bloomingdale’s catalogs were both big top-themed, and I’ve been seeing vaudeville touches in photos by The Sartorialist, recent runway collections and on the usual suspects, à la Anna Piaggi. (It’s also reminded me of past circus-centered episodes from two of my favorite shows – Bones and Pushing Daisies.)

Generra Fall 2010 - style.com

I’m a big fan of ruffles and I’m glad to see this trend carry on for another season! I already have several ruffle-adorned tops, but I can always make room for more…or perhaps branch out with a ruffled skirt or dress like the Generra one above?
