I’m a creature of habit when it comes to shopping at the mall. I go to my top three to four stores, and then I call it a day. But my stores were letting me down the other day when I was looking for dark denim leggings/skinnies and work attire. When I branched out, I ended up finding the perfect pieces!
After the jump, the deets on what I found!
I loooved the Joe’s denim leggings at Anthro, but unfortunately, my legs are about half the height as the pants, and with the zipper detail on the bottom, hemming could be an expensive and difficult process. So you can imagine my delight when, on a whim, I tried on the Denim Minnie Pant at J.Crew ($98) and it had everything I wanted – stretch, dark rinse, zippers on the bottom – and hit just the right spot at my ankles.
I forget sometimes that there are petite clothing lines out there, and when I stepped into Banana Republic on the hunt for work attire, I was pleasantly surprised to rediscover the store’s ”small person” section. Sleeves that aren’t too long, “mini” skirts that don’t hit mid-shin, pants that don’t require hemming – so refreshing. I found the Petite Classic Pencil Skirt ($60) to replace my worn-out H&M one, and with its pockets, stretch and again, perfect fit, I wanted to get it in every color. I was also surprised to find a flirty little silk top to pair with the skirt – the Petite Silk Graphic Top ($69.50). With it’s pink scribble design, it wasn’t something I expected to find at Banana.
And lastly, I have been dying to find a pair of tights that are a bit more exciting than the solid black I usually pair with black pumps, a black skirt and a black blazer. My dream tights were the Spanx Swiss Dot Sheer Fashion Pantyhose, but I had a feeling they would be difficult to find in stores, and I was hoping to spend a bit less than $28 ( I have a tendency to snag every pair I own). But then I saw the Sheer Dot Full Foot Tight ($14) at Urban Outfitters, and it was love at first sight.
