Six Degrees of Denim

OK, are you ready to follow along with me on an online denim adventure? If so, here we go…

I started on shopbop.com, where there is an interesting denim guide that includes an interview with Paige Adams-Geller, founder of Paige Denim, in which she explains how her jeans are so “booty-friendly.”

Then, thanks to shopbop.com’s blog, shoptalk, I was reunited with a great blog I had forgotten about – denimblog.com. Even better, there was a link on shoptalk to denimblog’s “denim do’s and dont’s,” a hilarious recap of all that can go horribly, horribly wrong in the world of denim, plus loads of helpful advice. I especially like that this list validates a lot of the (unsolicited) information I share with my mom, roommates, coworkers, etc. about buying jeans.

Denimblog then guides me to truejeans.com, a wondrousWeb site that finds what jeans will look best on your body using the exact or estimated measurements you provide. Are you kidding me? I’m hooked. I’m also itching to try on some William Rast (another fun “six degrees” is that I love Justin Timberlake, who foundedWilliam Rast, which is designed by Johan Lindeberg, who designs J.Lindeberg, which makes up 95% of my boyfriend’s closet) pairs to see if the site pegged me right.

Well, truejeans recently put up an article on how to style white denim, which is PERFECT because I’ve been on the hunt lately for a bootcut/flare pair of white jeans to keep my ankle-length white True Religions company. I literally tried on every pair of white jeans at Bloomingdale’s a few weeks back (and they have a lot right now), and could not find ONE pair that I liked.

At Intermix in Vegas last weekend I finally found a great pair of white jeans designed by, surprise, surprise - Paige Denim (see how it ties back?), but they didn’t have my size! They were the Hollywood Hills Bootcut in white, and in addition to having a not-too-high, not-too-low waist, they have just a touch of stretch and are thick enough not to show visible pocket lining (biggest pet peeve of white denim).

Now if only I could find them in San Diego!

So that’s it. I meandered my way through the blogosphere and ended up right where I wanted – my sartorial lust of the moment, a good pair of white jeans.

I watched the Today Show and liked the floral print dress but I won’t wear strapless, what do you think of florals for this spring? I also like the scarf, but my favorite thing on the show was the model with her gray hair in a cute bob….I’ll try to find the links to the Today Show and I think this month’s Lucky magazine, unless you have time to find them both first:)
