See explanation in this post for why I’m writing this. The dress Jillian, from the Bachelor, wore on the Women Tell All episode is a green shift from Club Monaco. Below is a photo of the dress and Jillian wearing it at WTA. Read the rest of this entry »

So, according to my blog stats, a lot of the people stumbling onto my site are looking for what The Bachelor girls wear to the rose ceremonies. I decided that as a courtesy to these Bachelor fashion-obsessed searchers I would try to post some info about the outfits. It’s taken some detective work (especially since I don’t watch show), but i did find the dress she wore to her final ceremony. It’s the Guess “Renee” dress. See photo of Jillian below. On Style.com I discovered a fun, relatively new designer named Chris Benz. I really like his fall 2009 collection.

I love his silhouettes – sometimes with everything on top, sometimes long and streamlined – and the bright colors he uses – red, blue, green, yellow.

I’m also a sucker for outfits paired with black tights (I happen to like my legs, and the only way for them to be used to their full potential in the fall and winter – in a respectable manner – is with black tights).

The whole collection is a little retro and a little quirky – good clean fun.

marie_antoinette(Be warned: very over dramatic post to follow…)

I will begin by saying that I love love love Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. In fact, I love all movies directed by Miss Coppola. But specifically in this film I was mesmerized by the music, the colors, the soft glow, the costumes….oh, the costumes…

Secondly, I love Christian Louboutin‘s sexy red-soled pumps and peep-toes and anything else his glorious French hands and imagination create… Read the rest of this entry »

sequinsI just felt the need to post some of my favorite sequined pieces. In case you didn’t know from past posts like this one, I loooooove sequins (well, pretty much anything that sparkles). When I’m at the mall it doesn’t matter how focused I am, how crunched I am for time, or how ridiculous the actual product is, I am drawn to shiny objects like a moth to a flame.

Lucky for me they are a hot commodity right now, with some of my favorite designers – such as Matthew Williamson, Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, and Blumarine’s Anna Molinari - dousing their recent collections with them. Below, a few of the dazzling beauties more within my reach (although still a stretch).  Read the rest of this entry »

O.P.I. "Who Are You Wearing" - alllacqueredup.com

I got my nails done Friday at Elite Nails on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. (right down the street from my work) and not only did the manicurist do a great job for a great price (can’t argue with $11 for a manicure!), the color I picked out was AMAZING! I found out on alllacqueredup.com that the color came from O.P.I.’s holiday 2007 collection, but it’s still very modern (versions of this color are still showing up in fashion mags’ newest issues). Anyways, the color is called “Who Are You Wearing” and the photo attached is from alllacqueredup.com. The color is a shimmery black/purple/blue color depending on the lighting.

I love Peter  Som’s spring 2009 collection (call me crazy, but for some reason I’m even diggin’ the fur collar). I really like the abundance of short dresses – yay for legs! - and the overall organized, yet dischelveled look to it all. The mix of patterns and textures – fur, leather, leopard print, florals – along with the color combos of neutrals with brights, black with brights, brights with brights, make these ensembles something my cool, crazy, globetrotting aunt would wear, that is, if I had a cool, crazy, globetrotting aunt.

I forgot to post this a few months back when I wrote about my first grape pie experience. I used the same recipe but this time I put the fillings in little tart shells and put them in the oven for less time. They were delicious!
