Just some quick thoughts on the Spring 2009 collections… After looking through a few of my usual favs and being disappointed with their drab, uninspired looks, I came across two collections that I love. This is only my first sweep of the collections – I will do a more thorough overview in the days to come – but my stars right now are Luella and Stella McCartney. I will admit I have a penchant for British designers (and lately I can’t get enough of Pushing Daisies’ fanciful, 50s frocks), but I can’t help but be drawn to Luella’s bright, frilly (and flattering!) dresses and Stella’s use of sheer, sparkly and satin materials. Dark, somber pieces belong in cool weather collections! I love Luella’s tea party meets school girl meets pastel prom dress collection. And while I could do without the menswear-inspired jumpsuits, Stella’s mix of mini and maxi jackets and dresses accentuate the body in a cool, relaxed way. My most-wanted below.
I’m on the hunt for a dress with this cut. I found one at Barney’s CO-OP, but it was a little too summery for right now.
There’s that dress again!
